  • 11th June - Added Registered user access at Usenet.net.au. Added extra functionality such as: fixed, proportional and plain text fonts; additional threading, change username function, custom footer etc. Will build on this with input from beta testers.
  • Minor formatting changes and enhanced social networking links.
  • 15th June - Changed URL truncate tool to feed off fat.ly API.
  • 17th June - Altered message appearance so the ">" is moved from leading messages and replaced with a 'block'. Still need to further cache.
  • 17th June - Altered location of Google ads. Feedback appreciated.
  • 21st June - Changed formatting of replied messages in consultation with users.

Version 0.3
  • Changed mailing list to align with other iChoice lists.
  • Added SMTP functionality to mailing list, admin forms, subscriptions and contact form.
  • Re-wrote basic URLs. More to follow.
  • RSS feed now active for each group. RSS 0.91.
  • Started development on my.usenet.com.au - Registered full featured online newsreader. Will include features such as short URL service, picture upload, file upload, news feeds, social network functionality (Twitter, Facebook et al) and daily summary emails. Email your ideas to us! Full reader includes read messages, personalised footer etc.
  • Added AJAX CAPTCHA feature to post form (will preserve message) and contact form to prevent abuse.
  • Social networking buttons (for posts) to major social network sites. Check my blog for code.
  • Integrated tinyurl API into processing of outgoing posts with URLs longer than 25 characters. See my blog for code. Will replace with my own Short URL service shortly (development).
  • Minor formatting on main page. I wish I could start from scratch!

  • Added snapshots application to enhance the user's experience. Rolling your mouse over the little icon next to an external link will produce a snapshot of external links (example: www.flight.org), Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles, Amazon products, YouTube videos, RSS, MP3s and photos or images. Provide feedback if you feel that the application doesn't offer anything to the service.

  • Released version 0.2.1 with slightly enhanced security.
  • Won't permit posting until IP address and host can be conclusively determined. Now normally will not permit posting outside of Australia or behind a proxy service - and in particular an anonymous proxy service - unless the forwarded IP can be identified and verified.
  • Database will record additional data to identify anybody abusing this service.
  • Added enhanced META and keyword functionality to every page.
